Thrifted End Table

I've been feeling super thrifty lately. I can't wait to be done with school so I can concentrate more on jewelry and refinishing fun thrift store finds. Anyway, this is a pretty sweet end table that I found at a thrift store recently on sale for a whopping $7.20. It definitely needed a bit of fixing up and my dad helped me reinforce the legs, but I'm pretty excited.

I'm torn as to what I want to do with it, but I've been on a turquoise and red kick lately, so I went ahead and painted one coat of turquoise. I'm thinking about leaving the one coat as is and painting a red octopus on the top with a tentacle wrapping around one of the legs. Then maybe putting a glaze to get those awesome details in the sides of the table. This will be my first glazing project, so that should be fun :)

So, here are a couple progress pictures. Sorry for the blurriness! I forgot to take a before picture with an actual camera, so my camera phone will have to do for now.

After this is done, my next projects are going to be painting my desk yellow and decoupaging the top and drawers and refinishing all of the furniture in my bedroom.

I also fell in love with this lamp from Anthropologie but am pretty hesitant to spend $198 plus shipping on it, so I'm going to try to create my own version. The only thing is that I'm torn between keeping it all white, or using all blue and white china. I've been a bit obsessed lately with blue and white china and pick it up whenever I see it at the thrift store, so I have enough plates. Just need to get the teapot and a few bowls and cups!
